The history of the Cuban rum began in 1493. Christopher Columbus brought the first crops of sugar cane in his second trip to Cuba. At the beginning the aborigines discovered its virtues. After that, the sugar mill and the refineries functioned by African slaves multiplied the production. At the end of XVI Century, Cuba was known as sugar reserve of the world.
The worldwide known liqueur, obtained as a sub product of the sweet plant, is present in celebrations, love dates and other happy moments, although it is also present in bad situations also.
